Kunstgewerbemuseum
On 14 June 2015 the Kunstgewerbemuseum will be holding a series of curator's tours through the world of fashion, design, and the decorative arts.
The curator's tours will take place between 12 and 3 p.m. in selected areas of the museum. Sabine Thümmler, director of the Kunstgewerbemuseum, will guide visitors through the newly curated Design Collection, at 12 p.m. Her selection of objects will include Bauhaus design classics as well as products by contemporary star designers Ettore Sottsass, Philippe Starck, and Konstantin Grcic. Katrin Lindemann (1 p.m.) and Christine Waidenschlager (3 p.m.) will both present tours through the new Fashion Gallery. In darkened rooms with large built-in showcases, some 130 costumes and just as many accessories are on display in a long fashion arcade.
A free booklet guide is also available for children and families visiting the Fashion Gallery and can be used in conjunction with the tours.
And at 2 p.m. Claudia Kanowski will take visitors on a specialist tour of 'Music in Porcelain'. Many porcelain figures of the Rococo period reflect the theme of dance and music. In them we can catch a glimpse of the courtly world of music and dance.
