Free Access to Art and Cultural Heritage – Open Science and Open Access at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin

The Open Science and Open Access concepts stand for the principles of public accessibility to scholarly and scientific data via the Internet. The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin commits itself to these principles with the following key activity areas:

  • The digitisation and public accessibility of museum data in the public domain, as well as the free utilisation of multimedia cultural data, which observes international standards, in particular the FAIR and CARE Data Principles
  • Making research data available
  • The development of new interactive digital formats, collaborative cataloguing of collection holdings, and participation in research networks
  • Participation in the scholarly development of specialised vocabulary and data communication standards for museums
