A Little Cultural History of Ancient Egypt: Disposable Goods

Film

In the film series A Little Cultural History of Ancient Egypt, the director of the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung, Friederike Seyfried, presents selected objects from the exhibition at the Neues Museum and provides interesting background information, helping our visitors at home to get ready for their next trip to the museum. The fourth video in our series Kleine Kulturgeschichten des Alten Ägypten (Short Cultural Histories about Ancient Egypt; in German with English subtitles) is dedicated to “Einwegware” (Disposable Goods). This segment features pottery vessels – by far the largest collection of objects to have survived from ancient Egypt. Some types of this pottery have remained ubiquitous and can still be found in large quantities throughout the country.
