The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe extend their partnership for two more years

Building on six years of successful cooperation, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe (Savings Banks Finance Group) have agreed to continue their collaboration to promote art and culture for two more years. Along with the Sparkassen-Kulturfonds (Savings Banks’ Cultural Funds) of the Deutsche Sparkassen- und Giroverbande and the Berliner Sparkasse, the insurance company Feuersozietät Berlin Brandenburg has also joined the partnership for the first time.

As primary sponsor of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe supports select exhibitions and cultural education projects and strengthens the museums’ public image, particularly in the digital sphere. Exhibition highlights include ‘The Botticelli Renaissance’ and ‘El Siglo de Oro. The Age of Velázquez’. The Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe also actively supports the project ABOUT THE MUSEUM for university students, and facilitated the establishment of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin’s blog, an important platform for digital communication.

The new funding period will kick off with the exhibition ‘China and Egypt: Cradles of the World’, which opens today at the Neues Museum on the Museumsinsel.
