The Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg shows the lines of development of fantastic art. The collection primarily comprise the art of surrealism - with its predecessors and successors. An arc spanning 250 years of art history: starting with works by representatives of symbolism through to main representatives of surrealism. The collection curator Dr. Kyllikki Zacharias tells the story of the series "Fantasies about a found glove, dedicated to the lady who lost it" by the sculptor, painter and graphic artist Max Klinger. In the ten seemingly surrealistic pen drawings, the artist opens up a symbolist world that begins in reality and ends in dream.
