Microfading Workshop and User Meeting on 7th and 8th November 2016

30.08.2016

The Rathgen-Forschungslabor of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin organizes a Microfading Workshop and User Meeting on the 7th and 8th November 2016

Polychrome artworks are prone to change their colour due to illumination. Light sources, photo sensitivity and exposure of the object have to be considered in order to optimize the lighting for a longer preservation of the exposed object. Microfading testing (MFT) is a technique which allows evaluating the photo sensitivity of an object.

The Workshop on the 7th November 2016 addresses: illumination in exhibition, estimation of light damage potential, MFT in general, cases studies and some live micro fading tests.

The User Meeting on the 8th November 2016 will address practical and methodological issues of micro fading.
