Rathgen-Forschungslabor
Since 2009, the International Fellowship Programme has offered scholars from around the world the opportunity to conduct research at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (National Museums in Berlin) for one to three months. The application deadline for a research project at the Rathgen-Forschungslabor (Rathgen Research Laboratory) is 15 April 2025.
The program supports research projects that are directly connected to the diverse institutions and extensive collections of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. The main goal is to strengthen the museums' international network and to promote academic exchange. The program is particularly aimed at early-career researchers, and the call for applications is especially directed toward scientists. The research project will be conducted at the Rathgen Research Laboratory.
This fellowship offers researchers the chance to develop their projects in the inspiring environment of the Berlin museums. Fellows gain access to valuable resources, can establish connections with experts in their field, and actively participate in the cultural life of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation.
In addition to advancing their own research, scholars also contribute to the international academic community and promote global collaboration in their respective fields.
The fellowship duration is one to three months. Non-doctoral researchers receive a monthly stipend of €1,300, while doctoral researchers receive €1,600, plus a travel allowance of up to €500. Additionally, fellows receive a museum pass that grants free admission to all museums, as well as a fully equipped workspace for their research.
