Neue Nationalgalerie
The Neue Nationalgalerie has entered into a long-term cooperation with the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection. Thirty prestigious works from the corporate collection in Stuttgart will be permanently housed in Berlin. The permanent loans, initially approved for 10 years, encompass important 20th-century artistic approaches previously missing from the Nationalgalerie collection.
Starting on 10 June 2026, five early works by Max Bill, Adolf Fleischmann, Camille Graeser, Helga Philipp and Ulrike Rosenbach are on view in the current presentation of the collection, Extreme Tension: Art between Politics and Society.
The selection of works from the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection contains paintings and sculptures representing both classical European Modernism and post-1945 international art, including important artists such as Max Ackermann, Hans Arp, Jo Baer, Enrico Castellani, Charlotte Moormann, Julio Le Parc, Charlotte Posenenske and Jesús Rafael Soto. The works are to be successively shown in the Neue Nationalgalerie collection presentations and special exhibitions. In future, they will be integrated into the new museum building, berlin modern, where they can be presented to the public.

The collection boasts some 3000 works by more than 800 artists. Its focus lies on abstract, constructive visual concepts, critically engaged art, and works related to automobility, design and construction. The corporate collection embodies Mercedes-Benz’s broad social commitment to culture and education. The Mercedes-Benz Art Collection makes it possible for a wide general audience to become acquainted with its art through exhibitions within the company and at international museums.
