A Series in Cooperation with Deutsche Bank
Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige are among the most significant contemporary artists and filmmakers working between cinema and the visual arts. For more than three decades, they have examined the construction of images, imaginaries, and historiography. Their work moves between film, photography, installation, and sculpture, combining documentary and fictional approaches.
At the core of their long-term research are personal and political archives, as well as traces of the invisible and the concealed – from the aftereffects of wars and a forgotten Lebanese space programme to the geological and archaeological strata of cities. Their films have been presented at major international festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival and the Locarno Film Festival.
Their works have been shown internationally at leading institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art and Tate Modern, and are held in major public and private collections worldwide.
Moderation: Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, Directors Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart
