Neue Nationalgalerie
The Neue Nationalgalerie is hosting the third edition of its PERFORM! series to mark Berlin Art Week. As in previous years, a historically seminal work forms the core of the programme.
This year that role is filled by Yvonne Rainer’s dance work Trio A. From Wednesday to Sunday, 11 to 15 September, the piece is being performed several times daily in the Neue Nationalgalerie upper hall. An additional highlight being presented at PERFORM! 2024 is the performance Galaxy Parade on Thursday, 12 September, a work by Esben Weile Kjær (b. 1992, Copenhagen) developed in collaboration with the Berlin curator and artist collective TRAUMA at the invitation of the Neue Nationalgalerie. On Saturday, 14 September, the site-specific concert-performance Edge by experimental composer and saxophone virtuoso Bendik Giske (b. 1982, Oslo) concludes this year’s Sound in the Garden series in and around the Neue Nationalgalerie Sculpture Garden.
Attendance to all events is free of charge.
Rainer initially performed the piece, later famous as Trio A, in a trio with New York choreographers David Gordon and Steve Paxton under the title The Mind is a Muscle, Part 1.
Wednesday – Sunday, 11 – 15 September 2024, at 3 pm, 4 pm, and 5 pm each day
