In the summer of 2017, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin invites visitors to discover the diversity of the Museumsinsel and its future relationship with the Humboldt Forum through the ‘Connections’ series of events.

From mid-June until mid-September three activities days, a summer camp, and the Kolonnaden Bar will be open to adults, children and families, and students. The events organized in the Connections series put the essential guiding principles of the Humboldt Forum, multi-perspectivity and diversity, relevance and public focus, into practice. The special display ‘New Neighbours’ on the Museumsinsel, which offers a sneak peek at selected objects from the Museum für Asiatische Kunst and the Ethnologisches Museum before the full collections arrive at the Humboldt Forum, will take centre stage.

To kick off ‘Connections’ a Museumsinsel Activities Day will take place on 18 June 2017. Adults and children are invited to explore the Museumsinsel through tours, exhibition talks, and other events. In the process we will highlight and discuss the connections between the different collections on the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Humboldt Forum.

The Connections project is made possible by generous support from the Kuratorium Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Board of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation).
