Since 2019, the cooperation project (MIK-DAI) Stunde Null: "Post Conflict Recovery of Urban Cultural Heritage in the Middle East: The Case of the Old City of Aleppo" has been collecting detailed historical data and information on monuments and buildings in Aleppo from the decades before 2011 and juxtaposing them with current data on the recent state of affairs.

An important basis for this project is the materials on Aleppo, archived by the Syrian Heritage Archive. In cooperation with the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), the major monuments of the Suwayqat Ali district, which is close to the central Suq al-Madina, were systematically processed and evaluated in 2019. The results will be published in an online publication on the one hand and integrated into a Geographical Information System (GIS), which will be developed under the supervision of the DAI to cover the entire old city of Aleppo. Since the beginning of 2019, the focus has been on the Judayda district and its residential buildings, which lie somewhat outside the old city walls. The aim is to provide a comprehensive presentation of the quarter's housing typology, building materials and typical damages to the residential plots. Here, too, all the results will be incorporated into the GIS in a compressed form.

The project is carried out in close cooperation with the Politecnico di Bari (Prof. Annalinda Neglia), the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University Istanbul (Prof. Ruba Kasmo) and the architect Thierry Grandin.
