The German Federal Cultural Foundation (Kulturstiftung des Bundes) promotes art and culture within the scope of federal competence. One of its main priorities is to support innovative programmes and projects on an international level. To achieve this, the Foundation invests in projects which develop new methods of fostering cultural heritage and tap into the cultural and artistic potential of knowledge required for addressing social issues.
The Museum für Islamische Kunst is so far the only museum that focuses on Islamic Art and Culture in German-speaking countries; it has thus an enormous importance for future socio-political developments. The Museum wants to adjust the visiting tour of the new permanent exhibition more consistently by adopting a simplified chronology and thematic references to various aspects of human life. By working in collaboration with the International Fellow, who originally came from Great Britain, the Museum will develop a strategy for communicative techniques that convey the complex themes which are relevant to visitors.
The Museum für Islamische Kunst is very pleased to have worked with the International Fellow in collaboration with the German Federal Cultural Foundation. A new graphic syntax, which has already been developed with the participation of enthusiastic young people, will hopefully enable increased visitor interest and understanding. This will begin to be installed in the Galleries early in 2018.
