With its project “Multaka: Museum as Meeting Point – Refugees as Guides in Berlin Museums" the Museum für Islamische Kunst (Museum for Islamic Art) has become one of the 100 lucky winners of the competition “Excellent Landmarks in the Land of Ideas" for 2016.

Under its motto, “Neighbourhood innovation – Community as a model for success", the project delivers a convincing answer to the question of how community action can offer innovative solutions to the challenges of tomorrow. With the competition, the initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas" and Deutsche Bank honour forward-looking ideas which exploit the potential of “neighbourhood" in the sense of community, cooperation and networking and thus create social “added value" for solving current or future challenges.

"Multaka: Museum as Meeting Point – Refugees as Guides in Berlin Museums" was selected from around 1000 entries by a top jury. The prize was presented to the project at a ceremony on Thursday 28th June 2016, in the form of a trophy and certificate signed by Germany's President, Joachim Gauck.
