Information about the Reopening of Additional Locations as of September 2020

31.08.2020

Further exhibition venues of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are opening successively as of September 2020: The Museum Berggruen and the Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg in Berlin-Charlottenburg reopen on 5 September, the James-Simon-Galerie on the Museumsinsel Berlin on 18 September, and as of October, the Bode-Museum, the Pergamonmuseum, and the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche will be accessible again. Similarly, all the reopened museums will return (as closely as possible) to their regular opening hours. Corona-related health regulations in all the museums continue to apply; at this time museum visits are only possible with time-slot tickets, which can be booked in advance online: www.smb.museum/tickets

“We are now in a fortunate position to be able to reopen other institutions of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin”, Director-General Michael Eissenhauer said. “We are indebted to Monika Grütters, Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, without whose crucial support such a comprehensive solution would not have been possible. The opening hours will also be extended nearly to their full extent so that many of our museums can once again offer visitors the return of the popular “Thursday evenings”.

The dates of the reopenings of the Kunstgewerbemuseum at the Kulturforum and its branch in Schloss Köpenick (Köpenick Palace) will be announced.
