Modus Operandi is an analogue double projection designed for maximum presence. It juxtaposes photographs that don’t belong together but whose impact is intensified through their visual proximity. The mechanical projectors bring constant change to the pictorial structure. Images are projected monumentally and anonymously next to each other, in a one-time direct connection. Each shifts the meaning of the other before it disappears and is replaced by another.
In a process lasting several months and placing no constraints on content, the artists were asked to upload material to an image bank. At periodic screenings they then jointly selected and arranged the images, with the intention of generating a collective visual language whose juxtapositions would have more impact than the sum of its individual images. The process encourages heightened perception and individual experience.
The exhibition shows works by Louisa Boeszoermeny, Viiri Linnéa Broo Andersson, Mateo Contreras Gallego, Eva Friedrich, Friederike Goebbels, You Gu, Moritz Haase, Elizabeth Hepworth, Miji Ih, Jakob Ketzel, Lucia Krug, Gonzalo Ruelas, Schlack/Giménez, Joram Schön, Anouk Tschanz, Greta Wildhage, Asís Ybarra, Lukas Zerrahn, Tania Elstermeyer und Frank Jimin Hopp.
