Museum für Fotografie
The Museum für Fotografie (Museum of Photography), adjacent to Bahnhof Zoo, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with an Open House. On Saturday, 22 June 2024, the entire museum is open to the public free of charge from 11 am to 8 pm. In addition to special exhibitions, visitors can enjoy a diverse programme of talks, tours, and workshops for children, as well as a range of culinary delights.
Since 2004, two organisations – the Helmut Newton Foundation and the Kunstbibliothek (Art Library) with its photography collection – have collaborated to make this venue a meeting point for photography enthusiasts from around the world.
This summer’s anniversary is all about Berlin. The Helmut Newton Foundation is presenting Berlin, Berlin, Helmut Newton’s view of the city of his birth, accompanied by photographs by Berlin photographers from the 1920s to the present day. Furthermore, the Kunstbibliothek is showing sensational perspectives on Berlin’s history in the Michael Wesely. Berlin 1860 – 2023 exhibition. There is also an exclusive preview of an upcoming exhibition of works by Berlin photographer Renate von Mangoldt: Berlin Revisited: Leaps in Time, 1972–87 / 2021–23.
During the Open House, the museum offers a varied programme that includes brief tours through the exhibitions, panel discussions and workshops for children and adults. Children are given ample opportunities to play in the museum courtyards, where food and drinks are also available. Beginning at 4 pm, dj tafkah provides music in the museum lobby. Admission is free.
