The opening hours of the individual museums vary. The museums are closed on Mondays and in some cases also on Tuesdays. The museums’ current opening hours are listed under Opening Hours.

Tickets & Admission Prices

Prices for permanent exhibitions, special exhibitions and concessions vary: Tickets and Admission.

Admission is free for children and teens under the age of 18, registered school classes, and students attending courses, as well as other groups. Concessions apply to schoolchildren, students, severely disabled persons and the unemployed, among others.

Tickets can be purchased in the online ticket shop or at all Staatliche Museen zu Berlin ticket counters.

Day tickets are generally available for the museums. However, for individual special exhibitions, there are time slot tickets that can only be used during the specified period, which is displayed at the time of purchase.

Vouchers are available from the online ticket shop and at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin ticket counters. They are valid for three years.

Annual Passes, Museum Pass & Multi-Venue Area Tickets

An annual pass grants free admission for one year to all Staatliche Museen zu Berlin venues. Depending on the type of pass, it is valid for permanent and/or special exhibitions:

  • BASIC: Permanent exhibitions during off-peak hours
  • CLASSIC: All permanent exhibitions anytime during opening hours
  • CLASSIC PLUS: All permanent and special exhibitions at any time without additional fees

The BASIC, CLASSIC and CLASSIC PLUS annual passes can be purchased in the online ticket shop and at all Staatliche Museen zu Berlin ticket counters.

The Museum Pass Berlin (3-day ticket) is a ticket offered by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin with which you can visit over 30 museums on three consecutive days, including all Staatliche Museen zu Berlin venues and also many other museums in Berlin.

The Museumsinsel Ticket grants admission to all museums and exhibitions at Berlin’s Museumsinsel on one day.

The Kulturforum Ticket grants admission to all museums and exhibitions at the Kulturforum on one day.

Services & Your Visit

Yes, cloakrooms and lockers are available for coats, jackets and bags. Luggage cannot be accepted. Further information can be found in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin Museum Regulations.

Museum Visit for Groups

All groups of 10 or more must register.

Visits may occur based on a group registration (individual visit without a guide), as a guided tour, or as a third-party tour (self-guided or with its own guide). Registration and/or booking must take place at least two weeks in advance via our online ticket shop under the menu point Groups or through our info service: +49 (0)30 266 42 42 42 (Mon – Fri, 9 am – 4 pm), service[at]smb.museum.

You may book a selection of highlight tours in German and English or register a group or third-party tour via our online ticket shop. Payment is possible with credit cards, instant bank transfers and PayPal.

Tickets are reserved at the time of booking. You receive and pay for the number of tickets required on site at the ticket/group counter on the day of your visit.

The booking can be cancelled free of charge until one week before the reserved date. After that, costs will be billed in full.

  • Dates for large groups of 40 or more, or if you cannot find a suitable time slot via the online ticket shop

Our service team is happy to provide information about our full range of guided tours, including thematic tours and tours through special exhibitions. You may also register for groups and third-party tours online.

If you would like to pay for a guided tour, group registration, or third-party tour by invoice, please contact our Info Service: +49 (0)30 266 42 42 42 (Mon – Fri, 9 am – 4 pm), service[at]smb.museum. Group registrations cannot be billed by invoice through the online ticket shop.

Please always state the group’s invoice address and reference number. After your group’s visit, you will receive an invoice for the tour fee and the number of admission tickets that were required for your visit.

Please note: If you have registered a group or a third-party tour via the online ticket shop, it is no longer possible for the admission fees occurring at the museum to be billed by invoice.

Tickets are reserved for you each time you book and register a group. You will receive the number of tickets required for your visit on site at the ticket/group counter on the day of your visit. Booking tickets in advance is unnecessary. Please note that problems can occur with the processing of large numbers of tickets.

A digital “Museumspass” will soon replace the familiar credit card-sized analogue ticket, so we are currently unable to send museum passes to groups. In the future, it will possible to purchase the digital Museumspass for groups through the online ticket shop. Until then, it is only possible for individuals to buy a Museumspass via the online ticket shop or at a ticket counter on site.

Groups of more than 25 are split up. A group registration fee (€10) is charged for each resulting group.

Tickets booked through the online ticket shop cannot be cancelled or altered. When you register your group with us, the tickets are reserved for you, and you do not need to book them online in advance.

Guided-tour bookings and group and third-party tour reservations carried out through the online ticket shop can be altered until two weeks before the reserved date and cancelled until one week before the reserved date. A refund of the group registration fee is not possible.

Pergamonmuseum

From 2027, the North Wing and the central section of the Pergamonmuseum will reopen. This includes the famous Hall of the Pergamon Altar and the Hellenistic Hall. The Museum für Islamische Kunst (Museum for Islamic Art) will then be presented on two floors in the North Wing with a significantly expanded exhibition area. The refurbishment of the Pergamonmuseum is scheduled for completion in 2037.

Selected objects from the Pergamonmuseum and a 360° panorama of the ancient city of Pergamon and the Pergamon Altar by Yadegar Asisi are on display in the immediate vicinity of the Museumsinsel (Museum Island), in the exhibition building Pergamonmuseum. Das Panorama.
