This two-year project focuses on a collection of objects and photographs that can all be traced back to the journalist Gustav-Adolf Küppers. Acquired on the Balkan peninsula in the 1930s, both the original use context of these objects and our knowledge about their history are extremely heterogeneous.
Over the duration of this project, researchers will systematically analyse different sections of the collection, looking at their origins, the contexts in which they were used, and the circumstances under which they were acquired or appropriated. These factors will also be viewed through the lens of contemporary discourses in the field and with respect to ideological influences.
