The MEK Signs the “Shield & Shine” Declaration of The Many (Die Vielen)

The MEK (Museum of European Cultures) is among the signatories of the “Shield & Shine” Declaration of The Many. In this declaration, cultural institutions and organisations affirm their belief that art and culture should be accessible to all.

The signatories stand together against racism and social exclusion, committing themselves to values such as respect and diversity because cultural institutions such as the MEK are democratic spaces.

Through its special exhibitions and events, the MEK stands for solidarity-based and respectful relationships with one another and always provides opportunities to start or join in a conversation.

The “Shield & Shine” Declaration reaffirms the democratic self-image of the MEK, which had already signed the Berlin “Erklärung der Vielen” (Declaration of The Many) in 2018. The Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz, along with all its institutions, was one of the first signatories.
