Symposium on 12 January 2024: Are Museums World Champions in Throwing Things Away?

Museums and the Throwaway Culture, with the participation of the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (MEK, Museum of European Cultures): Viewers can attend the symposium at the venue in Brussels on 12 January 2024 or online. Please register by 15 December 2023.

The climate and energy crises have proved that our societies need to act more sustainably. This challenge must also be tackled by the museum sector. The MEK is collaborating with nine partner museums from various European countries under the guidance of the House of European History in Brussels to specifically address the issues of waste and our throwaway culture from social, cultural-historical and museum perspectives.

Marking the conclusion of a multi-year transnational partnership, the House of European History has organised a symposium in Brussels, Belgium, on 12 January 2024. It will present the collaboration’s findings and introduce them to museum professionals and the broader public using short case studies (in English).
