Extension for the Project on the Sámi Collection at MEK until November 2025

Since December 2022, the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (Museum of European Cultures, MEK) has been researching the provenance and history of the Sámi collection. The project was initially funded for two years by the German Lost Art Foundation, Colonial Contexts Department. This funding has now been extended for a further year.

Until November 2025, the provenance research can be continued. The project is being carried out together with Duojárat (artisans) and in close cooperation with the Sámi museums Ájtte (Sweden) and Siida (Finland) as well as with the project Dávvirat Duiskkas (Norwegian Museums Association).

Áimmuin, the room for the Sámi collection, will also remain accessible. The results of the case studies will be published here successively over the next few months. There will also be regular talks in Áimmuin. Details can be found at smb.museum/aimmuin.
