This edition marks the launch of the magazine’s new format. The magazine now not only appears with a new layout, but also with a revamped structure of its contents. Key features are announced on the cover, visitor service information and events info now appear directly alongside articles on respective exhibitions, and an index makes it easier to navigate your way through the booklet.
This issue is dedicated to the reopening of the Kunstgewerbemuseum, which opened its doors again on 22 November 2014 as Berlin’s principal address for fashion, Jugendstil objects, and design. A double-page spread takes readers inside the Kunstgewerbemuseum’s new Fashion Gallery. The Fashion Gallery presents a window on the history of fashion, from the 18th century to the present day.
The regular feature 'Hinter den Kulissen’ (or 'behind the scenes’) provides a fascinating insight into the everyday running of the museums. In this edition, Bill Landsberger, entomologist at the Rathgen Research Laboratory, reports on a newly devised pest-prevention programme whose implementation makes the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin a pioneer among German museums.
In addition, the museum newspaper contains essential listings on current exhibitions, events, and offers for children and young people. Funding for the magazine has been secured for 2015 thanks to the generous support of the Preussischer Kulturbesitz Trustees.
