Comprising some 1,000 sheets, the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett owns one of the most important collections of French drawing outside of France. This includes many highly important individual works and series, which have until now been largely unknown to both the broader public and specialists alike.
In a two-year research and digitisation project, a small team from the museum, made up of museologists, conservator-restorers and art historians, have worked together closely on this important part of the collection, documenting and digitising it, and carrying out conservation and research work on the pieces, as well as making it available to the public via Collections Online: the Online portal for the collections of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
