A enclosure system has been developed to store stacks of large-format works on paper in flat file cabinets. Some 1400 objects from the Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings) collection were analysed regarding their sheet size and proportions and examined for typical damage patterns caused by their previous storage and handling.
The new enclosure system, which was developed in collaboration with the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart, reduces physical damage, facilitates the handling of the artworks and allows their uncomplicated transfer into a framed presentation in exhibitions.
