'Body and Soul' is this year's motto for 'Landespreis Gestaltendes Handwerk', a competition for craft design, held by the Handwerkskammer Berlin, Berlin's craft guild. The competition entries, made of metal, wood, textiles, stone, glass, leather and ceramics, are a fusion of the 'outer and inner' nature of arts and crafts and design, of material and idea, of design and creativity.

The designers' modern exploration of forms embraces modern design, innovative materials and superb craftsmanship. The results, critically assessed by a jury composed of design experts, craftsmen, figures from the art world and education, are to go on display in a thematically inspired show in room VIII at the Museum of Decorative Arts. The group show thus provides an impressive insight into the creative potential of craft design in Berlin.
