How does a poison dart frog perceive its surroundings? How does it feel to navigate through the dense Amazon rainforest at night as a vampire bat? The Virtual Reality Experience Inside Tumucumaque enables visitors to take on the characters of a vampire bat, caiman, harpy, tarantula, and poison dart frog and to discover the animals’ habitat and their sensual perception. With the help of ultraviolet color spectra, movements in super slow motion, visualizations of echo sounder locations as well as color night views and spatial 3D sound, the perception of animals is interpreted as a sensual experience that can be understood by the human perception system. The VR Experience can be experienced at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin during the last week of the exhibition How to talk with birds, trees, fish, shells, snakes, bulls and lions.

Inside Tumucumaque is a project by Interactive Media Foundation and Filmtank, co-created with Artificial Rome, scientifically advised by the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin in the context of Mediasphere For Nature. The event is made possible by the Interactive Media Foundation in cooperation with the Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.

Free of charge. At the “Aktionsraum” (access via restaurant) during opening hours. For the single user experience, a registration list is available on site. Please note that there may be waiting periods. There is no list for the mobile glasses with a 3D film.
