Lette Verein Berlin

What the Kunstgewerbemuseum and the Lette Verein, Berlin, both have in common is a long tradition of educating young designers. In 2016 the Lette Verein celebrated its 150th anniversary. Wilhelm Adolf Lette founded the organisation in 1866 as a ‘Society to Promote the Earning Capacity of the Female Sex’.

Today as a foundation under public law the association offers ten courses of study in design, nutrition and care, health, and technology. The course of study in fashion design places a particular emphasis on practical orientation, leading to a strong focus on the close interconnection of design education with practical experience in pattern construction and production. The Lette Verein’s master’s class is the brainchild of Jochen Pahnke, a fashion designer and instructor at the Lette Verein. This course of study offers eight talented graduates from the department of fashion design the opportunity to continue their studies in greater depth. Since 2016 its implementation has been made possible by Berlin’s Senate Administration for Integration, Employment and Social Affairs.
