150 Years of Kunstgewerbemuseum

The Staatliche Museen’s Kunstgewerbemuseum will be celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2017/2018. Over the course of a series of exhibitions and new event formats, the institution will take a probing look at its own history: what was the initial impetus for its founding? What objects were collected and why? What message did the museum originally wish to convey to the public? And what new challenges and tasks will design museums face in the 21st century?
