The series of lectures, MODE Thema MODE, ongoing since 2003, regularly invites German and international speakers to share their knowledge on different topics within research and scholarship into the history of fashion.

The analysis and interpretation of the cultural history of fashion and costume as both artistic expression and social communication aims to shed new light on the subject and bring the broad, international network of fashion scholars closer together. The lecture series has in recent years gained international appeal.
