As part of the exhibition The Big Screen: Film Posters of All Time, the Kunstbibliothek ‒ Staatliche Museen zu Berlin has initiated an event based on favourite film choices. Thirty films were available to choose from. Now the results are in and will be shown on the big screen in Berlin in April.
“Your Film Picks: 3 from 30” – under this motto, visitors to the exhibition The Big Screen were asked to select a film they would like to see on the big screen. In cooperation with the Yorck-Kinogruppe, thirty films, whose film posters could be seen in the exhibition at the Kulturforum until 3 March 2024, were included in the vote. Among them were blockbusters and arthouse films ranging from classics to recent productions.
The counting of 3500 submitted votes has concluded, and audiences have chosen their favourite films: in 1st Place with 370 votes is 2001: A Space Odyssey; in 2nd Place with 327 votes is The Rocky Horror Picture Show; and tied for 3rd Place with 185 votes each are The Godfather (Der Pate) and Les Enfants Du Paradis (Kinder des Olymp). The films will be screened in April in two Yorck-Kinos in Berlin. Launching the series is The Godfather I on 3 April – marking the 100th birthday of Marlon Brando, who genuinely stood out in the title role.
