But which works have particularly appealed to the people who deal with the paintings of Rembrandt, Rubens and Botticelli on a daily basis? We asked our team to get in front of the camera and find out.
The altarpiece with St Jerome by Jacopo Bellini is captivating not only because of its strikingly filigree and finely detailed painting style. The saint's beard alone reveals almost every single hair. What immediately catches the eye, however, is the curvature of the panel. How did it come about and how do you deal with it? Our restorer Maria Zielke introduces us to her personal favourite from the rich collection of the Gemäldegalerie and explains what it is all about.
