Kunstbibliothek
The artist’s books of Alexander Djikia, Helfried Hagenberg, and Matthias Mansen - who each represent three very different approaches to art in the 1990s - form the centrepiece of this exhibition. The kaleidoscope of styles that these three artists embody is enriched by the now extremely rare menus which they drew for the once legendary New York restaurant La Chanterelle. Seizing on this New York precedent, Pidder Auberger, Matthias Mansen, Helfried Hagenberg, and Michel Sauer went on to create original prints as menus for the Bouillabaisse restaurant in Düsseldorf.
Wolfgang Wittrock (art dealer, publisher, collector, and connoisseur) has now presented these works to the Kunstbibliothek. They make a pleasing new addition to the Collection of Book Art and Media Art and the Collection of Graphic Design.
