Under the title In Transition, ten graduates in the fashion design programme at the Lette Verein Berlin present costume works they submitted as part of the elective coursework requirements to complete their degrees.
The final projects attest to a vast creative spectrum of costume design for the stage, cultural events, film, art and media projects. Visitors can look forward to dramatic opera costumes, such as the portrayal of Turandot’s extreme state of mind in Giacomo Puccini’s titular opera. In the project, A Greek Moshpit, concert outfits for a female punk band are on view that the classical Muses inspired. The graduate work titled Zirkus des Lebens (Circus of Life) embodies secretive poetry, finding its counterpart in imaginative circus costumes. In the project Roots, the narration of a dream and a journey through Africa materialise during a search for one’s identity.
The Lette Verein Berlin, a renowned professional training centre for over a century, educates students to become state-certified fashion designers in a three-year, full-time programme. Graduates can choose between the elective course areas of fashion and costume design, thus preparing themselves specifically for a particular job market.
