Highlights of Romanesque Treasure Art
The Domed Reliquiaries in London and Berlin and their Environment

16.09.2006 to 19.11.2006

Kunstgewerbemuseum
Kunstgewerbemuseum

The domed reliquary from the Guelph Treasure in Berlin's Kunstgewerbemuseum (Museum of Decorative Arts) and the domed reliquary from London's Victoria & Albert Museum bear close resemblance. Together, they form one of the most remarkable pairs of "siblings", artistically related works of Mediaeval treasure art. Having recently completed a joint research project, the Berlin and London museums will exhibit the two domed reliquaries together for the first time, further presenting the methods and findings of their research work. Additional select works of 12th century enamel art from Cologne on loan from other museums will round off the exhibition.
