Summer Cinema at the Kulturforum Opens on 12 June 2020

11.06.2020
Kulturforum

On Friday, 12 June 2020, the ARTE-Sommerkino (ARTE Summer Cinema) starts at the Kulturforum. This year, tickets are only available online.

After a cultural time-out that has gone on for many weeks, Berlin can once again enjoy one of the city’s nicest open-air cinemas. In a setting between the Philharmonie and the Neue Nationalgalerie, the most popular movies of the recent past will be shown on an enormous screen until 30 August. As in previous years, the Yorck Kinogruppe (Yorck Cinema Group), which organises the summer cinema together with the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the German-French cultural channel ARTE, has once again put together a varied and entertaining programme. The major art house hits of this years’ cinema season (Parasite, Joke, Systemsprenger (System Crasher), Als Hitler das rosa Kaninchen stahl (When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit), Knives Out, The Farewell, Jojo Rabbit, and many more) will be complemented with numerous special screenings. An initial highlight will be the presentation of Die Kangaroo-Chroniken (The Kangaroo Chronicles) on 16 June, with the director Dani Levy and lead actor Dimitrij Schaad in attendance.

Protection against Infection at the Summer Cinema

In compliance with current public health and safety regulations, the operation of the cinema begins in just a few days with an initial permitted capacity of 200 seats. However, 400 comfortable deck chairs will be available to visitors as of 16 June. Tickets this season can only be purchased for reserved seats. In addition, there will be no box office at the venue to help prevent the spread of infection. Tickets can be booked in advance online on the Yorck Kinogruppe website. Further information about the programme and hygiene measures in place can also be found there.
