Staatliche Museen zu Berlin to participate in the Lange Nacht der Ideen on 12 May 2017

The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin will be participating with two projects in the ‘Lange Nacht der Ideen’, which is organised by the Federal Foreign Office and will take place for the second time on Friday, 12 May 2017.

The evening event ‘Reform(ation) in the Museum: Luther, Digitization and a Visit to the Museum of the 21st Century’, on show in the Parochialkirche, takes visitors on a virtual tour of the exhibition ‘Renaissance and Reformation: German Art in the Age of Dürer and Cranach’ currently on display in Los Angeles, transporting them there with the aid of virtual reality glasses.

Meanwhile, guides of the project ‘Multaqa: Museum as Meeting Point’ offer tours in German and English in the Pergamonmuseum to present Syrian and Iraqi cultural artefacts. ‘Multaqa’ (Arabic: meeting place) stands for cultural exchange and insight into different experiences. The guides interact with visitors so that a dialogue unfolds between participants.

For those interested in the topic of the Reformation, the workshop ‘Iconoclasm. Revering Paintings/Destroying Painting’ is taking place (in German) on 11 and 12 May 2017 at the Kulturforum of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
