Children under 18; persons accompanying people with severe disabilities; holders of annual tickets, press, ICOM or DMB cards; and members of groups that support the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are requested to book a free time-slot online and to present the corresponding ID upon admission without being asked.

Should the museums be forced to close again at short notice, all tickets will be automatically refunded.

Number of visitors

In accordance with the current pandemic-related regulations enforced by the State of Berlin, visitors numbers are to be kept to a maximum of 1 visitor per 40 square metres for all spaces within the museum, to ensure that social distancing guidelines can be observed, meaning the maximum capacity of the individual museums has been heavily reduced.

Health and Safety Measures

In accordance with the Infection Protection Measures Ordinance of the Berlin Senate of 29 March 2021, visits to the museums are only possible upon presentation of a negative result of a point-of-care (PoC) antigen test (so-called Corona rapid test) or a negative test result of a PCR test for an infection with the coronavirus that is not older than 24 hours. Self-tests are unfortunately not permitted as proof. Even for persons vaccinated against Corona, the submission of a negative test result is necessary.

Visitors (aged 6 and older) and all staff must wear a FFP2 face mask.

In order to protect visitors and to ensure rapid contact-tracing, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is obliged to document the presence of visitors in the museums. Contact details are therefore recorded upon entry. To this end, a sign has been placed at every entrance featuring a QR code and brief, explanatory text. Visitors scan the code, which opens up a contact form on their smartphone. Their personal information will be collected exclusively for the purposes of the health authorities’ contract-tracing efforts, and will be automatically deleted after four weeks. There is an alternative system for visitors who do not have a smartphone.

Shops & Cafés

The shops in the museums are open Tuesday to Sunday from 12 pm to 6 pm. Cafés and other catering services in the above-mentioned museums will remain closed until further notice.
