Gemäldegalerie
The architecture of the Gemäldegalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin inspired the setting of the DIOR Summer Show 2026 on Friday, 27 June 2025, as part of Paris Fashion Week.
Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director at DIOR since May, presented his first collection: in front of the L’hôtel des Invalides he had a room modelled after the exhibition halls of the Berlin gallery. For Anderson, the Gemäldegalerie at the Kulturforum – including its outstanding collection – is one of the most beautiful museum buildings in the world.
Two original paintings by Jean Siméon Chardin, on loan from the Louvre in Paris and the National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh, were added to the presentation.
I am delighted that Jonathan Anderson finds the Gemäldegalerie such an inspiring place that he has modelled it for the DIOR Summer Show 2026. The simplicity and clarity of our spaces and our outstanding collections are a perfect match for Dior’s new, historically orientated collection. Anderson's adaptation of our museum shows the close links between fashion and art. Back in February 2025, we hosted The Berliner Salon in the Gemäldegalerie, which was attended by more than 20,000 visitors.
