The first symposium of the Visitor Research Network Association (NWBF) takes place on 24 April 2023 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Research Campus Dahlem (Lansstraße 8, 14195 Berlin). The symposium will focus on the exchange with participants from interdisciplinary research collaborations that collect data on visitors and the ongoing discussion about the various uses of this data in practice.
The Visitor Research Network Association’s first symposium will concentrate on innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. It is being held at the Research Campus Dahlem, a new type of research and presentation location where various institutions of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation) collaborate across disciplines and collections.
More intensively discussed will be three projects that use innovative technical means (eye and sensor tracking, AI) to study the physical interactions between visitors, the spaces they visit, and the objects they view. Discussions will cover not only aims, methodology and initial findings but also the issue of how the knowledge acquired from the projects can be made usable in the long term for exhibition practice in the implementing venues and other museums.
Furthermore, the symposium will provide the opportunity for participants to network and to learn about other initiatives and projects in the field of visitor research besides the Visitor Research Network Association.
