Call for Papers: 2022 Annual Conference of the Visitor Research Network

22.06.2022
Institut für Museumsforschung

The Visitor Research Network will hold its annual meeting in November 2022. The founding initiative of the Institut für Museumsforschung (Institute for Museum Research), consisting of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, the Stiftung Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Deutsche Arbeitswelt Ausstellung – DASA, the Jüdisches Museum Berlin, the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and the Deutscher Museumbund, aims to establish a nationwide network for visitor research that will make museums fit for the future by supporting and accompanying the dynamic development of visitor and audience research at museums.

The 2022 annual conference of the Netzwerk Besucher*innenforschung (Visitor Research Network) on the topic “Digital Visitor Research” will take place on 14–15 November at the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in Bonn.

Digital activities of museums have increased significantly in recent years. However, there is still little reliable knowledge about digital audiences and how available digital content is used. At its 2022 annual conference, the Netzwerk Besucher*innenforschung will therefore look at digital museum audiences and the use of digital means within the context of an analogue museum visit. The conference aims to consider approaches to visitor research and evaluation that pertain to the interaction between museums and the digital space.
