Film

Annette Messager is known for her multidisciplinary practice involving sculpture, fabric, photographs, taxidermy, drawings, and everyday objects. Drawing on memory and imagination, she explores fairy tales and mythology through methods of collection and assemblage. Her hybrid works connect with romantic, grotesque, and surreal traditions. Messager received the Golden Lion in 2005 for best national pavilion at the Venice Biennale and the Praemium Imperiale for sculpture in 2016.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Tel Aviv Museum (2022), Institut Giacometti (2018), MCA Sydney (2014), and Centre Pompidou (2007).
