Open House. Tage der offenen Tür: Free admission to Hamburger Bahnhof from 12 until 14 June 2026. More
Things get colourful on Family Sunday at the Hamburger Bahnhof! Whether young or old, related or a chosen family: Everyone can experience art in a special way. On our family expeditions, questions are asked, ideas are developed and artistic techniques explored. Every Sunday, the Rieckhallenatelier transforms into a laboratory for young and older art explorers. Whether for learning, marvelling or laughing, inspiration awaits everywhere—sometimes real, sometimes imagined.
Participation including entry to all exhibitions: €10 per family (2 persons including 1 person under 18), €15 per family (3 persons and above including 1 person under 18)
Opening hours 11 am to 6 pm, programme from 12 pm to 5 pm
The Open Studio, specifically designed for families, invites children and adults to experiment and create together. Monthly changing focuses, such as a writing workshop for children and adults, designing family posters, or creating new collages from old photos, provide diverse inspiration. Families thus gain new opportunities to discover and actively shape artistic projects together.
With a playful nod to the museum’s name, the title of the family publication “Ich versteh nur Bahnhof” (I don’t get what’s going on) invites families to explore the museum together and at their own pace—with curiosity, openness, and no strict rules. “Ich versteh nur Bahnhof” will be available for free at the museum’s ticket desk—with the purchase of a family ticket or when visiting with an annual pass. The publication is currently available in German only.
The family publication “Ich versteh nur Bahnhof” is made possible by Volkswagen Group: Partner of the Nationalgalerie.
Programme and coordination: Marwa Almokbel & Laureline van den Heuvel
