Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart

During Berlin Art Week (9 to 13 September 2026), Hamburger Bahnhof will offer a symposium on museums in the regions surrounding Berlin, artist talks, open-air music in the garden, and extended opening hours until 10 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Hamburger Bahnhof becomes a platform for exchange and networking among museums, cultural institutions, artists and Berlin’s neighbouring regions. On Friday, 11 September, from 11 am, the symposium “Art Spaces East: The Role of Museums in the Regions Surrounding Berlin” explores regional visibility and demographic change in politically charged times.

At 5 pm, a curatorial tour offers insights into Ryuichi Sakamoto’s first retrospective in Europe, which opens during Berlin Art Week. On Friday evening, the museum presents live performances in the museum garden in collaboration with Kuboraum. Artist talks with Giulia Andreani and Carsten Nicolai will take place on Saturday, 12 September.

On Friday and Saturday all exhibitions will remain open until 10 pm.
