Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart
From 1 July 2025, the new family publication Ich versteh nur Bahnhof is now available (in German) at Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart. With a playful nod to the museum’s name, the booklet invites families to jointly explore the museum at their own pace – with curiosity, openness and no set rules. The booklet complements the aims of the weekly Volkswagen Group Family Sundays programme, which encourages visitors of all generations to discover art and culture.
The 60-page publication is intended for families with children aged 6+ and offers a lighthearted approach to art and architecture. It is made possible by the Volkswagen Group as part of its long-standing partnership with Hamburger Bahnhof. Three entertaining chapters guide visitors through the impressive building, introducing selected works and providing whimsical, easily understandable interpretations as well. Readers are also encouraged to view the current exhibitions. Questions, ideas, and space for one’s thoughts and drawings make a visit to the museum a personal experience.
Hamburger Bahnhof is full of stories and mysteries – and this booklet invites readers to explore it on a mutual journey of discovery. It opens up new perspectives on art and makes a visit to the museum a special experience for young and old. In our long-standing partnership with the Volkswagen Group, we have developed another valuable building block for attaining our common goal of “culture for all”.
Till Fellrath, director of Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart
Ich versteh nur Bahnhof is now available free of charge at the museum’s ticket counters – with the purchase of a discounted family admission ticket or a visit to the museum with an annual pass.
The family publication Ich versteh nur Bahnhof is made possible by the Volkswagen Group: Partner of the Nationalgalerie.
