Since 1885, reliefs from the Near Eastern regions have been listed in our catalogues. Our holdings include moulds for 203 works of art of the Sumerians, Hittites, Assyrians and Babylonians. They encompass numerous impressions, which were made directly on site from now destroyed originals, such as the Hittite rock reliefs from Yazilikaya. You can also find contemporary witnesses such as the protective impressions of the famous Ishtar Gate from the time of the Second World War, today one of the most important exhibits of the Vorderasiatisches Museum (Museum of the Ancient Near East).
