Collection on Tour

As a world-class collection, the Gemäldegalerie lends many artworks to appear in exhibitions in Germany and abroad. The mission of a museum does not only involve exhibiting works, but also preserving them and carrying out research on them. As such, works are also occasionally removed from our exhibition spaces to undergo conservational work, or for research and documentation purposes. This means that individual works are sometimes not on exhibit.

The following major works are currently not on display:

Giovanni Baglione, Sacred and Profane Love, ca. 1602

Nicolas Poussin, Self-portrait, 1649
