The digital platform accompanying the special exhibition Mantegna and Bellini. Masters of the Renaissance offers information about visiting the exhibition, scholarly details and entertainment.

As of 1 March 2019 the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are presenting an extensive exhibition on the closely interwoven oeuvres of Andrea Mantegna (c. 1431–1506) and Giovanni Bellini (c. 1435–1516) at the Gemäldegalerie (Old Master Paintings).

Combining interactive elements with texts that are easy to understand, the website www.mantegnabellini.de provides easy access to a number of topics addressed in the exhibition, as well as an entertaining, in-depth review of its subject matter. In addition to options to book tickets and tours and to find information on the accompanying programme, the website includes a multimedia treatment of the artistic dialogue between Mantegna and Bellini:

  • Works of art are compared, interesting visual details explained, painting techniques introduced and the conservators’ discoveries examined.
  • You can playfully test your own knowledge: Which works did Bellini paint and which works are by Mantegna?
  • And how do the works of the two artists differ?
  • If you like, you’re invited to tap into your own creativity, produce a work of art and share it on one of the popular social networks.

The website is compatible with all devices and is available in German and English. Until 30 June 2019 you can visit the website via WIFI at the cafeteria and foyer of the Kulturforum.

“Mantegna and Bellini: Masters of the Renaissance” is a special exhibition of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the National Gallery, London, in cooperation with the British Museum. The exhibition is under the patronage of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and sponsored by the Kaiser Friedrich Museumsverein and the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe.
