Gonzalo Rodriguez is a music archaeologist and cultural scientist from Cusco, Peru. He also researches the flute traditions of different cultures throughout the world. As part of his fellowship, he examined the flute collection of the Ethnologisches Museum.
Gonzalo Rodriguez’s examination of the museum’s flute collection centred on an exhaustive study of the materials and the techniques used to build the instruments. He used the results of this research as the basis for constructing and playing replicas of flutes from pre-Hispanic Peru.
In his research work, Gonzalo Rodriguez specialises in Inca music archaeology – a topic he has been researching for ten years.
