Berlin Southern Theory Lecture

The “Berlin Southern Theory Lecture” focuses on southern theory and epistemology. It recognises the various starting points and relationships of the most diverse forms of theorising, whose genesis and orientation often deviate from the dominant Euro-American traditions. The lecture series seeks to help overcome existing postcolonial asymmetries and aims to decentralise and diversify theoretical questions in current debates in the social sciences and humanities.

The “Berlin Southern Theory Lecture” is organised by the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Freie Universität Berlin and the Leibnitz-Zenturm Morderner Orient (ZMO), in collaboration with the Dahlem research campus of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation)
